COMMON QUESTIONS

How long does floor screed take to dry before flooring can be installed?

Drying times vary depending on the type of screed. Traditional sand and cement screed typically dries at around 1mm per day, while liquid screed and self-levelling compounds usually dry faster. Before laying flooring such as tiles, carpet or laminate, the screed must be fully dry to prevent future issues. We advise you on the correct drying time based on the screed used.

What type of screed is best for underfloor heating systems?

Liquid flowing screed is often the best choice for underfloor heating because it settles evenly around the heating pipes, improving contact and heat transfer. It also reduces air gaps and provides excellent thermal conductivity. We assess your system and recommend the most suitable screed for long-lasting performance.

Does my existing floor need preparation before screeding?

Yes. Proper floor preparation is essential for achieving a strong, level finish. This may include cleaning the surface, repairing cracks, applying primer or removing loose material. We carry out all necessary preparation to ensure the screed bonds correctly and performs well over time.
