PLASTERING SERVICES

Skimming & Re-Skimming

Skimming is ideal for refreshing tired or uneven surfaces. We apply a smooth, durable plaster coat that prepares your walls and ceilings for decorating. Re-skimming is a popular choice during renovations or after wallpaper removal.

Plasterboarding & Dry Lining

We install plasterboard for extensions, loft conversions and new builds, creating a clean, solid base for plastering. Dry lining is fast, efficient and helps improve insulation and soundproofing in your home.

Ceiling Repairs & Replacement

From small cracks to water-damaged ceilings, we carry out safe and reliable repairs. Where needed, we remove damaged boards and install new plasterboard for a stable, long-lasting finish before plastering.

Traditional Plastering

For older or character properties, we offer traditional plastering methods designed to suit the building type and ensure a finish that lasts. We use the correct materials to maintain the look and integrity of the property.

Damp & Surface Repairs

Blown plaster, cracking or damp patches can affect the quality and appearance of your walls. We assess the issue, repair the damaged areas and apply new plaster to restore a clean, even surface.

Artex Removal & Ceiling Smoothing

We safely remove old artex and reskim ceilings to create a smooth, modern finish. Ideal for updating older properties and preparing rooms for decorating.

COMMON QUESTIONS

How much do plastering and skimming services cost in Hampshire?

Plastering costs in Hampshire depend on the size of the room, the condition of existing walls or ceilings, and whether skimming, plasterboarding or full replastering is required. Most plastering prices are calculated per square metre or per room. We provide clear, detailed quotes so homeowners know exactly what their plastering work will cost before we begin.

How long does plaster take to dry before I can paint it?

Fresh plaster usually takes 2–5 days to dry, depending on room temperature, ventilation and the thickness of the plaster. Larger plastering jobs or newly plasterboarded areas may take slightly longer. For the best finish, paint should only be applied once the plaster has fully dried and turned a uniform pale colour.

Do I need to remove old plaster before re-skimming walls or ceilings?

Not always. If the existing plaster is solid and free from major cracks or blown areas, re-skimming is often the best option. However, if the plaster is loose, damaged or damp, it may need to be removed and repaired before skimming. As experienced plasterers in Hampshire, we assess the condition of your walls and ceilings to recommend the most effective and long-lasting solution.
